Chaotix of Tomorrow Setup ------------------------- Version 2019 and 2005: File location: http://www.knuckleschaotix.net/cot_2020.zip (2019 edition) http://www.knuckleschaotix.net/CoT.zip (2005 edition) To setup the game, download the zip into a brand new folder on your computer, unzip the file and run setup.exe. As the game has gone through the setup proccess, go to the "Chaotix Tomorrow" catalog that was created and doubleclick on the icon RPG_RT to start the game. Alt+F4 to quit the game, as any usual windows program. The 2019 edition is 38 Mb. The 2005 version is "only" 18Mb, but doesn't contain all the voice acting, new cutscenes, improved graphics etc as in the 2006 version. Version 2006: Create a brand new empty folder on your harddrive, and create a subfolder in this folder. Call these folders whatever you want. To download the new version, released on May 20th 2006, you need these two files, put them into the first folder you created: http://www.knuckleschaotix.info/tomorrow/Setup.zip http://www.knuckleschaotix.info/tomorrow/ChaotixTomorrow.lzh (The reason that the lzh-file isnt included into the zip-file is because it goes corrupt when you zip it. I don't know why this happens, as that never happened before, so unfortunately, you have to download this one separately.) 3) Unzip setup.zip into the first folder you created, and rename "ChaotixTomorrow.lzh" to "Chaotix Tomorrow.lzh" (with a space between "Chaotix" and "Tomorrow"). Then, let the .lhz file be as it is. (You should have the follwing files in the same catalog by now: Chaotix Tomorrow.lhz setup.exe setup.ini UNLHA32.DLL UNLHA32.TXT 4) Run setup.exe and as the installation screen has appeared (with a blue screen in the background, you'll get a message to select path), select to install the game into the subfolder which you created earlier (click the three dots, next to the white field, to "browse" your computer for this folder). 5) The setup will run automatically from this point, and once the setup is completed, go to the subfolder you created (for exampe with explorer). Another subfolder has been created, called "Chaotix Tomorrow". In this folder you'll find rpg_rt.exe. This file will start the game. The game has been tested by several people and should work without any problems. Alt+F4 to quit the game, as any usual windows program. Just a warning: The game is about 36Mb, so make sure you have enough space on your harddrive before you start downloading. :) --------------------------- May 30th 2005 - Version 1.2 --------------------------- On May 30th 2005, version 1.2 of CoT was released. I don't want to spoil too much what's new in this version, but I could tell at least that it contains an extra cut-scene that wasn't in the previous version. Some spelling was taken care of, and some graphics were improved. Trivial things in general, so if you already have downloaded the previous version that was released in April 2005, I wouldn't suggest you to get this version, as not so much stuff is new, but feel free to download it if you want to. :) -------------- Known problems: Question: Most of the music in the game is working, but a few specific songs don't play. How do I make them play again? A. This may be caused by using WinAmp or some other program to assign "RMI info" to the MIDI files to make them display nicely in playlists. This doesn't change the filename of the song, but it modifies the MIDI file so the game won't play it anymore. Follow these steps: 1. Look in the "Chaotix Tomorrow\Music" folder where your game is installed and find any .mid file with a "Last Modified" date that is after the date you installed the game. These should be the songs that aren't working. 2. Do NOT reinstall the game. Install it again, but in a different folder than you originally installed it in. 3. Go into the "Chaotix Tomorrow\Music" folder in the new location, which should have no recently modified files in it. Copy all the .mid files that you identified as not working in Step 1. 4. Paste the .mid files into the "Chaotix Tomorrow\Music" folder in the old location. Windows will ask you if you want to replace recently modified files with older ones that have the same name. Click "Yes". 5. Now the music should work. In the future, don't assign RMI info to the original MIDI files--make copies in another location first.
